What are eyelash extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are a popular service where single strands of synthetic eyelashes, which are soft and curved to replicate a real eyelash, are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one, to create a beautiful, natural look. Lash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear.
Who wears eyelash extensions?
You don’t have to be a movie star to wear lashes, everyone loves lash extensions! Its amazing how something so small can do so much for the symmetry of the face. We often hear how our clients have given up their fillers and injections, or the idea of plastic surgery, all because of the difference the lashes make!
How long does the application take?
The procedure for a full set will take approximately 2 hours and includes time for paper work, discussing the look you desire, and after-care maintenance.
How are the eyelash extensions applied?
A single one of your natural eyelashes is isolated, and a synthetic lash is glued to the side or right under your lash, approximately 1mm from the eyelid. This is so neither the glue or the lash has any contact with the skin.
Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?
No. For your safety and the protection of your eye, it is important to have your lash extensions applied by a fully trained stylist who uses quality product. Loss of natural lashes does not occur with professional extensions as no glue is applied to the skin or clumped between your natural lashes. Keep in mind that we naturally shed old lashes and grow new lashes constantly, and it is perfectly normal to see an extension fall out with your natural lash attached to it.
Can I wear mascara?
You won’t have to, but some people still choose to. Mascara must be water based and we ask that it is removed before arriving to your fill appointment. You can wake up in the morning looking great with lashes that look like you’re wearing mascara 24/7! No more dealing with the clumping, streaking and smudging look. Fantastic for brides on their special day and great for vacations.
Is the eyelash glue and glue remover safe?
Because we specialize in eyelash extensions, we take great care to ensure that the adhesive and adhesive remover does not come in contact with the skin or eyes. Cascade Lash Studio only uses high quality, medical grade, fast drying adhesive in your choice of regular or hypoallergenic. Our adhesive’s are extremely low fume and sensitive in formulation, without added latex or formeldehyde; ingredients that can be culprits of eye irritation and allergic reactions. If you have had previous irritation from extensions in the past or think that you may be sensitive upon initial application, please let us know prior to getting your first fill or full set with us so we can discuss what the best options would be for you. Keep in mind that allergic reactions are possible and although rare, a reaction could happen at any time and typically includes mild swelling, itching or burning. It is important to keep your extensions clean in between appointments to avoid build up of makeup, dead skin, oils and pollutants which can be the culprit for infection and allergic reactions.
Can I still wear eye makeup?
Yes, but you will likely find that you are using much less! Makeup and skin products used on and around the eyes must be oil-free because oil can dissolve the bond between the glue and the lashes. Makeup remover must also be oil-free. We recommend and carry a selection of makeup, (including mascara), and remover products made especially for extensions. Never wipe down towards the lashes when cleansing as this will cause a buildup of makeup on the lashes and may lessen the life of them.
Are the eyelash extensions glued to my skin?
No, each lash is adhered approximately 1mm from the eyelid.
Can I curl or perm eyelash extensions?
No, no more curling and perming because it is not necessary. Even if your natural lash is straight, the extension will camouflage them and curl out. Using an eyelash curler is not recommended and will definitely lessen the life of your eyelash extensions.
How long do they last?
Although lashes can last up to 6 weeks, they look best when kept filled approximately every 2 to 3 weeks. This can take 45-60 minutes depending on how many lashes you typically shed and how full you want your lashes to look. As a client, keep in mind that after-care is important and you must be careful not to get oil on the extensions, expose them to extremely hot temperatures, and be careful not to rub or sleep on them. It is best to arrive to this appointment without eye makeup on. Being punctual for your lash fill appointments helps us ensure that you will receive the best fill result.
What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?
Do not perm or curl your eyelashes before your eyelash extension appointment. Also, do not use oil based makeup removers or waterproof mascara within 48 hours of your appointment. Please arrive for your appointment without eye makeup on.
